**Piper is a little behind, her limp keeping her down. Jamaca slows down, as they talk quickly and quietly.**
Jamaca: I never quiet understood why we left, Piper.
Piper: Me either, really. Jamaca . . .
Jamaca: I mean, what was mom thinking? What did she have in mind . . .
Piper: Jamaca . . .
Jamaca: I mean, was she looking for something? Someone? Or was she running . . .
Piper: JAMACA! **Jamaca looks up, surprised.** Lets rest. **Piper says, calmly.**
Jamaca: Oh, right. **She sits down, still talking quickly.** I mean what was the point? Why did she take us?
Piper: You should ask her that, Jamaca. **Jamaca looks at her and then, almost nervously, looks back into the river. She remains silent for a moment and then continues to talk, slower this time.**
Jamaca: Was it about Papa? Korat? Melody? Rowd . . . **She stops.**
Piper: No, not Rowdy. **She says stiffly.** And not Korat either. Glance and Melody is a maybe, but you must ask her. **Jamaca sits there in the silence, thinking.**
