I rather like it when my bra and girdle overlap. I find it's better than having a gap. A gap creates an awkward bulge in between, at least on me. Sometimes it pinches and it never looks nice. When they overlap I get a nice smooth unbroken line, which I like.
I know what you mean about a long obg working as a step restricter. I do like that and I agree with you - only for special occasions.
Do you ever wear corsets? Actually, that's what I wear much of the time these days.
