When you sharpen a straight razor on it, you "strop" the razor. It is a big wide leather strap, maybe 2 inches wide, usually about 24 inches long with a leather handle on the free hanging end to hold on to when you strop the razor and and a metal ring to hang it on the side of the barber's chair, or on the wall if you sharpen the razor at home. To use it to strap or spank with, that metal hanger would have to be cut off. It definitely hurts when spanked on the bare bottom with it. It was more widely used back in the late 1800s and early 1900s up to say 1950. Shaving with a straight razor is an art that must be mastered pretty well so you don't cut yourself or slit your throat with it shaving. Rebecca, you say it hurt but nothing like a Lexan. >Most families in our church have them the hurt a lot more than a strap. Daddy and the elders now use them for church padlings and my Christian school will have them when we go back to school in August. Based on the weight of a Lexan paddle, I am not at all sure it will be effective if it is used to spank your bottom over clothes, or even over panties. A spanking implement hurts when spanked over clothes because of the weight of it. So to make the Lexan paddle hurt when spanked with it at school, it would need to used with the school dress up out of the way so you're getting spanked on your panties, and I'm not sure how much that would hurt either, or to make it really sting like when you get spanked at home with they would need to lift your dress or skirt up out of the way and pull your panties down so you bottom is bare just like at home. Does your Christian school spank on the bare bottom? Does your Daddy and the elders spank over panties or bare bottom when they use them for church paddlings?
