Does anyone remember group injections at school?
I remember in 6th grade we were all taken to the nurse's office for an injection which had just come out for some disease prevention in the early sixties.
We were taken each class at a time, boys and girls separately, accampanied by our class teacher who happened to be a female teacher at the time.
Was very embarrassing having to take your pants down for the injection in front of your female teacher.

in 7th grade they passed around a form for you to take home saying that the nurse will be giving out the hep B series to all kids in this grade who did not have the series yet. well lucky for me I already had the series so I was spared. but the shot was given in the arm to those that needed it

Where did you get it, Mandi? I had a similar experience of getting a mandatory inoculation privately before they were given at school. I got it in the bottom but, had I waited to get it in school, it would have gone in my arm.

We had to get two shots during seventh grade year and 12 grade year. We were required to get a meningitis shot and tetanus shot at our school and both times both shots were given in the arm.

I had injections when 1st and 6th grade at school. That day I go to school as usually. But during the class, our teacher suddenly tell us that we will have DT and measles vaccines.
Then there are a man and a woman coming into the classroom. They are officers from the health department who will give us the injections. We were asked to sit on our stools, summoned one by one to the front of the class to take injections. The first injection is the measles vaccine and then the DT vaccine. Both are given in the arm. The student who is called then sat in the teacher's lap. The female officer in charge of filling the syringe with the vaccine. And the man doing the injections. That day our class was very noisy. Some are crying there is also a laugh while showing off the injections spot.

The only mass vaccination I attended was at school for polio shots. Later we all got sugar cubes, but this first time by injection in the arm. We did get tuberculosis skin tests every couple of years. The injected underneath the skin in the middle of your back so you wouldn’t scratch it. Boys had to take their shirts off and stand in one line. Girls stood in a different line. As they got near the nurses station, teachers would unbotton the back of their dress so the nurse could get to their back. The parents were told not to have them wear a slip, but for girls who had on a slip, they had to take off both and stand there in their underpants. Then some days later the process was repeated to check the test site.
