You have my empathy, Kim. I have an appointment tomorrow for several buttock injections. From past experience, I know that I shall have to drop trousers, pull down pants and bend over to get them in both cheeks. Expecting them to hurt, I am as apprehensive as you must be about your forthcoming shots back there.

The good news is that it is by far the least painful place to be injected. Of course it is embarrassing (especially if the receptionist comes in, as she sometimes does) but nurses jab plenty of bare bottoms every day so I remind myself that mine is nothing special for her.

There are a couple of tricks I have learnt to reduce unpleasantness. One is to assume position before the injections are prepared so I can't see them. Trying not to think about what is about to happen is hopelessly impossible, so I try to engage the nurse in conversation about something else. She often employs a diversionary tactic such as pinching or smacking one buttock before jabbing the other or telling me to do something unrelated, such as holding my nose before I get it. Whilst such distractions help me to relax the muscle so the initial jab hurts less, they do nothing to reduce the pain of the serum being injected but it is better than nothing. During the shot I just remind myself that I have to get it and it will soon be over apart from possible inability to sit down later. I also bear in mind that the bare-bottomed embarrassment is a reasonable price to pay for being injected in the least painful place.

Assuming you to be a young lady, I would be pleased to let you have my contact details if I can be of further help.

Kim lay flat on your stomach and point your toes inward. When I know the medication is going to sting I slap their bare cheek 2-3 times and then stick and inject. Afterward I will take my fingers and massage the injecton site for about 3-5 minutes and then put an ice pack on it while they wait the 15 minutes. When you get home go on a long walk and work it into your muscle. if you don't mind me asking how old and how much do you weigh and waht is the medication they are giving you 2 more times?
