I would say more men just assume it goes in the butt and drop their shorts. Obese women tend to want it in their butt for some reason. SOme of them are so large even the longest needle wont hit muscle.

There's a good video on you tube concerning a study of needles of length that might be more effective if they are longer and can get to the intended area the medication needs to go. I think it was started because a number of women requiring injections in their buttocks, were not getting the medication needed because the needle was not going into the area it was supposed to reach.
