If it's caused by a bacteria and not a virus, yes. You could get a penicillin shot. However, contrary to many posts made by people claiming to get them, I have found that very few doctors actually stock it. I live in a fairly large city and checked around not long ago at most pharmacies and none of them had it available if I were to get a prescription from the doctor. They would have to order it. The only place I found I could get it right away was one of the hospital pharmacies would sell it through the in-patient pharmacy. Then I would have to go back to the doctor's office to have the shot given to me.

O.k. I got a penacillin shot yesterday. It hurts like hell. It is today now and it is still hurting, but more. Is this normal? Please help.

Yes this so true, that it is diffrent for everyone my butt closer to my hip hurts so bad and it has this huge lump or bump and it is very painful. I got the shot on thursday night Sep 18 and man im in alot of pain but I must say I do feel a lot better after being diagnosed with strep the meds are working.
