Inasmuch as the injection will be given with an old-fashioned glass syringe, it could be a penicillin shot for an illness or infection. One penicillin shot was rarely enough, so she probably got several over the course of a few days.

I can imagine the doctor baring and admiring that shapely bottom. He will probably just jab without warning making her jerk at the feel of the needle. When he injects the medicine a few moments later the pain might make the girl grit her teeth and grip the bed tightly in an effort to stifle a scream. When it is all over, she will tearfully rub her tender cheek.

Here it is "in black and white." That's just it. It is an older picture probably from an adult website.
Black and white pics were the only thing available, even when color photography was just being developed.
Shots in the butt were VERY common so embarrassment was minimal. Many types of medications just worked better in the butt. Most injections (especially in kids wit thin arms). caused less pain when given in the bottom.
I remember requesting to have shots given there since the pain was less.
I remember I had a HUGE sunburn that kept me in bed for several days. My mom took me to the pediatric clinic with a very high temperature. The doctor ordered an injection. I was called into this room where injections were given. The medicine in the syringe was white. It was a powder-based medicine so was thick.
The nurse asked where I wanted it and being a young teen and seeing the others in the room, I naturally requested it be given in my arm.
As she cleansed the area, I looked down to see a little girl about 5 looking at me to observe my reaction. As she began extracting the medication, it felt like dental novacane.
It was the absolute WORST shot I have ever had!
