I am 16 and I did not have a good morning. My mom took me to the doctor after a stray cat scratched my arm this weekend while feeding it. I had a red line going up my arm. The doctor had the nurse clean it and apply some bacitracin ointment. I was relieved until he told my mom I am going to give her an injection of rocephin and a tetanus booster. He saw my expression and said as he walked out your bottom might be sore for a day or too. I begged my mom to take me home and for get about the shots. She said no. Climb up on the table and lie on your stomach and be a big girl. The nurse comes in carrying two shots. One is filled with a yellow liquid and the other is smaller. He pulls down my black tights exposing my bare buns and my tiny black thong. He wipes a spot with alcohol and gives my left cheek a firm slap and give me the tetanus. he said did you feel that. NO my butt is still stinging from your slap. He wipes my right cheek and gives me a another slap and sticks the bigger needle in my butt. I felt it go deep into my muslce. He said relax and take slow deep breaths. he said this tends to burn, but I mixed it with some lidocaine to take out some of the pain. He rubbed that spot a few times and told my mom to help get me dressed. She comes over smiling and I said it is not funny my butt hurts. She then slaps both of my bare cheeks a few times and says is that better as she help me slide up my slacks. I am never touching another cat again.

You're lucky, though I suspect if you were scratched by a stray cat, not only would you have received the shots you related, but would still be going through rabies shots which are now given over about a month's period of time, most shots in the arm, though I think one or two in your buttocks. Perhaps the two you mentioned. And guess what? You're very fortunate because you did not have to endure what is known as the "Pasteure Treatment", also referred to the "cure being worse than the disease", which is not true, as rabies was a horrible death. The thing is though, you got 21 or sometimes more very long needles in your abdominal area with a very thick serum being injected, and one a day for 21 days. And they were very painful! You fared well young lady.
Trust me, I know!
