Subject: Afraid of injections in my butt please help? Author: scared [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: Monday, March 18, 2013, 12:37: pm my doctor wants me to get 3 injections. she wants me to get a flu shot,pneumonia shot and a tentus shot as well, i been putting it off for a bit now. i think i been putting it off cause i am afraid that they will tell me to bend over and give me the shots in my butt. i never had a shot there and am scared that i will be made to get my shots in the butt. so will i have to get the shots in my butt and if so will it hurt. i am super nervous about it so any help would be work here. would i be made to get the shots in my butt and if so how bad will it be? i am scared and idk what to do about it, i go to the doctors alone it really freaks me out if i do have to get them in the butt. like i said i never had an injection there before so how will it be done? what will the doctor/nurse do at injections time? every post i read about the tentus shot states that it is/was given in butt and i also read posts that the flu shot was also given in the butt to. and that scares me a bit as i never had a shot there before. if i do have to get the shots in the butt how can i be less scared since i will be there alone? But the tetanus will make your butt sore later if you get It there. I got the tetanus in my arm my arm was sore later from it but it didnt hurt. Now the flu one and that I can't see why they have to give it to you in your butt. You can get all them in the arm. Author: scared [ Edit | View ] Date Posted: Tuesday, March 19, 2013, 09:15: am thanks for the reply brooke i am still a lil scared about it i realluy hate getting shots/needles. i know if i got them in the butt then i would not be able to see the needles which might be a good thing but i will still be scared. i asked this to some other people and they said to have someone or something there to distract me while i get the shots, which i can take music and listen to it. but if i do need to get the shots in the butt is there a way that a nurse can come in and hold my hand or be there with me to help me to calm down and be less scared? i know that i should not be so scared but i am, cause as a kid and some as an adult if u wanted to give me a shot or take blood from me u would have to fight me crying,screaming and kicking and u would have to hold me down cause i was a monster when it came to needles. if i have to get the shots in my butt how would i be for them? would i be told to lean over the table or since it would be my first time would i be made to lay over the nurses lap or be made to lay on yummy on the exam table. someone told me to call my doctors office and ask where the shots would be given at, but that would freak me out even more if they said in the butt so i would kinda rather just go there for the shots and if i need them in the butt then i will know, but knowing ahead of time will just freak me out even more. thanks again for the help. When I got one in the butt I just stood up and was leaning n the exam table with my hand kinda bending over in a way. But as with your pants you won't have to take your underwear completely off unless for some reason you have to but I can't think of any reason why. The farthest you pants will be pulled down is just below your butt. And if your embarrassed on how your butt look don't worry the doctor has seen many bare butts before. Is there any reason or indication that you'll be receiving injections in your buttocks? You need to clear this up prior to going for these injections. And too, ask if they must ALL be given in one visit. You ever thought it might not be good to have three different meds injected into your system within a short amount of time?
