Subject: Psychiatric injections

My wife and I have sme questions for those who
know more about injections.

It is more detailed but we have a 16 year old daughter with
psych issues. Violent outbursts and behavior among other things.

My wife had the girl to a psych doc who has her on one a day
antidepressants and once a weekend night 2 pills to take.
The one pill is 50mg of Thorazine and the other 50mg. of a hypnotic
sedaitve, forgot the name.

She refused to take the pills this weekend and crushed them.
The girls reason is she don't want to be drugged with mind control
she said and not have control of the situtaion.

So they are going to have it arranged for a medic to come and give her the meds weekly.
The medicine will be given in a shot and if she refuses they will tell her she will
ahve to go as inpatient.

They told us after she has the meds to keep her in the room and in bed.
They said in a short time she would be more cooperative and the meds
fix a chemical imbalance.

We did not research what these drugs do as there is a lot of inacurate
info on the web. I did hear minus a pain killer that is the same meds
that used to be given to children before going to the operating room
for tonsil surgery.

Does anyone know exactly what these drugs do?
Or how that are going to effect her?

We don't want her trying to leave the house and fall or get injured.

Also she has a fear and dreads needles.
We had her for a tetanus shot a while back and it took several to hold the
girls arm still. She still managed to break free when getting stuck with the needle.

The shot is to be given deep in the muscle they said and we are wondering
about a way to secure the girl so a needle don't bend or break in her arm.
Is there any suggestions on how we can keep her still long enough until
he gives her the shot and enough time for the drugs to take effect.

Thanks Jim

Jim,

Your search for medical information of this type here is unwise. Not all but the vast majority of postings here are fetish oriented. If your daughter needs that strong of a medication for her disorder that a to take refusal would result in hospitalization then seeking medical advise here is silly.

Her doctor & nurses already understand normal shot restraint techniques and should be able to advise you on best practices in that regard. Any other forms or systems of restraint outside a hospital setting without proper prescription & in some cases legal permissions "COULD" result in violations of local laws. Again as I said this is a silly place to ask such a serious question.

This is an EXTREMELY DISTURBING POST !!!!

In response to your question, this isn't the right place to get that information.

But I do know a lot about what you asked. Try and explain to her that it would be in her best interest to take the pills. Maybe offer her something she wants?

If they have to give her a shot, it will be far more unpleasant. They will use as many people as they need to to hold her down.

Thorazine wont have any long term bad effects but she will have a dry mouth constantly. Haldol, which is another drug they give, is given to calm down a violent patient. There are many short term side effects to Haldol.

Any shot will be far more unpleasant and painful.

So find a way to get her to take the pills.

Tim
