Mark Prensky’s weblog: The Prensky Challenge

We teachers are used to thinking that we are supposed to provide all information to our students. I mean we try to chew the entire subject for them to just swallow and because of that we also think they must understand and get everything easily by taking good grades and having a great performance. By teaching our students perfectly, in our conceptions, we expect them to be wonderful. Reading Prensky’s challenge of who should be blamed for students’ bad performance let me think about me as a teacher. I have to evaluate my position and try to change my way of teaching by providing my students tools for them to feel comfortable and instigated to construct their own knowledge.
