Subject: Task 9 Process 1

Hi folks.
I want to share my first impression about the WebQuests.

Task 09
Process part 1

I never saw any WebQuest before so I didn’t know how good they can be to improve our classes and get our students much more involved. I have to admit that the first impression about them made me realise that just knowing the English language well is not enough to be a good teacher. As digital immigrants we have to learn about the great tools we have through technologies to reach our students interest.

All the WebQuests seem to be very attractive and useful. They are well designed and the exercises proposed are also very creative. They can call students attention due to the fact that the students are digital natives and love when they can be involved by any piece of technology. So they could learn English more easily if being exposed with this type of learning environment.

I just found them more useful for being used in regular schools where the English, History and Geography teachers can develop a multidisciplinary project in hope of studying and exploring the WebQuests in full. On the other hand if the students from private English courses use them they could learn English but the other subjects would be learned by themselves inductively without any direction.

I am seriously thinking about inviting my coworkers to develop a project at our school and involve as many teachers as possible. If possible we can use some of these WebQuests there. Specially:
An unforgettable journey through the Brazilian Royal Road; European Vacation; Historical Hurricanes; Travel quest: Exploring the world; Natural Wonders - A trip through Brazilian National Parks; and The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

The idea of asking the students to create a WebQuest is great and I really would ask them to develop one. But first I have to feel more confident about it and then consider the idea to be put into practice.
