Lady’s Shoulder
By Carlo G. Soldevilla
Written on Feb. 22, 2016
I had a classmate in Metro Manila and in our nursing subject,
He loved to speak hifalutin words..and he loved dogs, and pitbull-his pet.
One time, I thought that for this kind of friend I can hardly mingle or relate (with),
What if he hears my visayan accent, and the way I punctuate?

Somehow, our class reporting began, about nursing.., partly about dietetic(s).
About nutritious food for patients, not necessarily for them to become athletic
His partner in reporting was his one and only girlfriend (I supposed he had only one as it should be),
He mentioned all the foods which are classified as rich source of carbohydrates..and pudding included (can be a good match for tea.).
All the while I thought he was a grammarian and a good conversationalist.
But when I heard him say ‘padding’..”Here I stand, in my own right as a ‘linguist’.”
I let him hear in such a way that it won’t hurt or offend him..about what he read in his report earlier, It’s the food that I love --pudding –which is pronounced as ‘pooding’, It’s not the one placed on the lady’s shoulder.

Note: My mom (deceased) was a nutritionist-dietitian at Amas Provincial Hospital in Kidapawan City.
