CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Words & music by Carlo G. soldevilla
Written on January 18, 2002

Christmas lights on Christmas trees
reminds me of home again
When my brother and me
uprooted the pine tree in our yard

We transferred it into a pot made of clay,
and watered it (along the way)
But it only survived a few days
We found its leaves had all dried up

The Christmas Tree--
Our christmas tree
Its stems and leaves had all turned brown
We earthballed what mother planted
which later on made us frown
Little did we know, it can't sustain--
The pot was just too small for it
Right when we decided to return (it)
The tree had already lost its life.

Indeed, it's so good to see
a genuine Christmas tree
But out of our curiousity
our Christmas tree had lost its life.

Sometimes we would want to appear
to have a genuine heart
We decorate ourselves outside
So others say that we look smart
Sometimes we ought to thank God for what we have
Take away the desire to covet
We should remember where we came from (the start)
And love the Lord with all our heart.

==============

To earthball is to uproot....but with soil
(ball-like) holding on to the roots of the plant for
the latter to sustain its life
