Ocean of Happiness
by Carlo G. Soldevilla
Written on January 29, 2019

The dirty past you want to forget.---
It’s about Manila Bay which was once dirty or dirtied and yet…
..no other leader in the time past ever took the challenge to clean it up.
But now, with Duterte, everything has changed.
His vision is like that of the Davao eagle, having a strong and solid political will and a hand that strikes like an iron fist.
What he did to Boracay, he also did to the bay. Practically, he cleaned it up -the mess, with the people’s participation (people power).
Thus, cleanliness brings an ocean of happiness.

Swiftlets
by Carlo G. Soldevilla

Same feather? Flock together? There are birds and they are white as snow.
There are also small black birds, the balinsasayaw or swiftlets……....Wow!

If you’re frequenting Chinese restos, the bird nest soup is so expensive. The soup is made from hardened nest formed by the saliva of balinsasayaw. The Chinese believe that the nest is medicinal.
The swiftlets form their nest inside the caves located near the shore, and they lay their eggs there. Harvesters get this nest and turn it into bird nest soup. (Are those having diet restrictions call it halal?)

Why I know this? It’s during our ‘environmental scanning’ or ‘countryside tour’ in Surigao ..after we’ve done our tasks or official business.
We visited beautiful places, went inside the cave, and we were able to hold the bird’s nest where one of the swiftlets laid her eggs which was just an arm’s reach.

Manila Beach
By Carlo G. Soldevilla
Written on January 29, 2019

It’s just easy to write a poem if it’s just to compare the two (Pls. click link below)--
What used to be and what it is now, the before and after, the news that’s true---

One can make a comparison between good and evil, have a choice between the two.
But surely, one will pick the pic of what’s on the right, it gives pleasure to you.

Clean air, pretty nice ambience, deafening silence except the noise that comes from machines and the sound of gentle waves.
But it would no longer be a scene that creates eyesores, having a smell that stinks. Thanks G-d, the garbage collector’s sacrifice pays.

One may call it now Manila Beach. As surely as the sun stands still, it smiles and happily glow(s).
Its ray pierces through the soil, cleaning all the surfa(ces).

Haiku for the Garbage Collectors – Shell by Carlo G. Soldevilla

Shell
by Carlo G. Soldevilla
Written on January 28, 2019

Sea of humanity to create a sea of beauty
Not quite impossible. It merely took a single step plus political will
Sooner, the Philippine will be garbage- free
Then haikus will be written ever gracefully describing the corals and the shell.

Find Out
By Carlo G. Soldevilla
Written on January 30, 2019

To see is to believe, go there and find out
Then you will appreciate the beauty of what she’s talking about
It’s about Manila Bay, a scenery that inspires
We, Filipinos deserve to have something better like this-Clean air, clean water, clean oceans and seas.
