Poem for the Police Trainee -- Praises by Carlo G. Soldevilla

Praises
by Carlo G. Soldevilla
Written on January 11, 2018

One held the ‘foot of Jesus’, and one stroke the nape of the neck
For those who are unprepared for ‘bad things’ that come unexpectedly might say ‘What a heck.’

The call for duty versus the call for spirituality
One is official, the other is personal (conviction).

If I were him, maybe the same thing I will do,
Follow my heart..and what I think as ‘evil’-Eschew.

It can be no evil in holding the sole..but with the ‘stir-of-the-moment’ (?) consequence of the beating of the nape
..and later on, he might just ponder and reason: ‘The pain which I felt is unequalled to the pain of Christ who died for my sake.’

Surprisingly, He (trainee) might later on end up as chaplain, and in the future, with G-d-allowing, when his higher up officer would need his religious services,
..and find himself confessing to the police trainee whom he once beat, he might be in awe and wonder, saying: ‘Father, I can’t believe. Is that you? … Praises…

Time flies.
The good things, we ought to remember. The bad we forget,

Life must move on happily, gracefully, joyously,
despite we are frail, human. May the two end up as ‘buddies’.

Note: I don’t know if ‘The Call’ or ‘Buddies’ would be the better title for this poem.
