The problem occurred shortly after trading began this morning but order-driven markets remain at a halt. The LSE confirmed in a statement at 10.37am that trading is still suspended. A statement on the exchange’s website explained, “The uncrossing trades and the automatic trades (UTs and ATs) that took place in SETS and SETSqx securities this morning will stand. London Stock Exchange continues to investigate the market data issue. Participants can continue to delete but not enter orders at this time and no automatic execution is taking place. All market maker quotes are indicative only.” No time has yet been set for the reopening uncrossing auction call period to start but advanced notice will be given of the proposed time, said the LSE. Live updates can be followed here. The LSE are currently meeting to look into the problem but the issue deals a blow to its new trading systems. Earlier this week, Borsa Italiana experienced a five-hour outage.
