Subject: SILK ROAD IS SHUT DOWN BY AUTHORITIES

Myself I have no interest in Silk Road, nor am I any user of the network. My interest is more to watch how such networks are operating, and how authorities eventually get them shut down.

Most often authorities just buy the information they need to break the network and procecute the owners, but authorities generally let such networks operate a long time in order to gather information about its users.

All networks have some commercial company at some basic level which has direct access to all security codes, simply because they have direct technical access to the backbone servers, and all the bits and bytes within the servers. These companies earn a lot of money by selling any type of information to authorities, or other companies interested in the information. In this case and most others, the authorities have simply bought much of the information they needed, but let the illegal network operate a long time to gather information about the users and providers using the network.

Some type of authorities possibly also use the network to sell drugs with added content of some kind that have a direct health effect on the users. Such content can be hormonal substances, poisens, viruses or microbes. The purpose is often to use unknowing persons as guinea pigs in medical or psychological projects.
