Having been an NYC EMS employee from 1977 to 1988 I saw just about every car NYPD drove, including street crime undecover cars. And yes they did drive Fords, not the little ones the big LTD series,( I raced one with my 1979 St Regis with the 360-4bbl) for Highway Patrol. The funniest was the "K" cars of the early 80's, big officers had to use the light bar to swing in and out of the car.
