A term used by vampires and occasionally by Slaghunters that refer to the early hours of the evening. The first hour or two following sunset. This is when the vampire population is just beginning to wake from their daily sleep cycles. Some may awaken early from their sleep, but the fading light may cause fatigue or disorientation in certain vampires, and they are not at their full potential until the daylight is completely gone. The 'stumble' hour may be used by some vampires to gain an advantage in an attack. It is also used by Raiders who have adjusted their sensitivities in order to operate. As most vampires sleep right through the stumble ou, it is the perfect opportunity to gain the element of surprise.
The Ditz
The ditz is a slang term for the withdrawal effects of blood deficiency. If a vampire does not feed, and his blood supply is low, there will be shakes and muscular tremors, a darker or fully crimson eye glow, stomach pains that get more and more severe with each passing day, and possible blackouts. The fangs may also remain exposed during this time, instead of retracting into the gums as normal. As this will eventually lead to a 'blood lust', a vampire's mental functions may begin to break down. The longer they remain in this state of withdrawal, the more dangerous they become. Even to those they love most. Other experienced vampires can easily tell when one of their own is beginning to thirst for blood, and will distance themselves from someone who displays any of these symptoms.
