Here's a great review of Frontier House (with a mention of LHOP that is right on and funny as pertaining to FH):
http://www.epinions.com/content_70317608580# I really agree with this review! :D

I didn't get to see this, and I really wish I would have. I like some of the reality shows, but I know that I would have really gotten into this one. I am one of those people, as I know I have mentioned before, that would have loved to have lived back in the 1800's, or at least get a little "peek" at it! I regret not having made more of an effort to see this show.

If it's ever in rerun, you'll have to watch it! :) What was funny in the review of FH was that one of the women in FH made a comment about one of the other women, saying that every frontier town has to have its "Mrs. Olsen," lol.

Frontier House is being rerun now. It comes on every Sunday at 9 PM Central Time. Unfortunately its about half over. Tonight (Wednesday) PBS is premiering another 'step back in time' type show. Its called 1940's House, a sequel to 1900's House.

Thanks, Harriet. FH is worth watching even if it is half over. The 1940's house sounds as if it could be interesting. I'll have to dig out a blank tape. I just can't stay awake for these shows that don't even *start* until 9 p.m., lol.

I have been watching it on Sundays, after The Forsythe Saga (which I love). I never watched FH all the way through. I am happy I am able to catch it again.

That one lady..from Tennessee is a #$%^&! I cannot stand her. The other family is all about drama (which iritates me). I like the young married couple.

The woman from TN is a real control freak. The CA family is rather melodramatic, but it is fun to see the change the teenage girls go through. Definitely Nate and his wife (forget her name) are a great couple.
Seeing what they all went through is fascinating. I mean, the guy from TN tried to plow the land. It looked impossible! I can see why a lot of people who lived back then ended up giving up their claims. Look at Pa. He never really did have any lasting success on any of his claims really. They ended up living in town.

It took strong human being to live on the land. My hate goes off to them. BRAVO

I don't think I caught all the shows when FH was on, but I watched enough to know that the one woman would have driven me to drink after about two days. If memory serves, wasn't she always talking about being prepared and planning ahead and all that garbage, and then wasn't she the one who made one of her KIDS go beg an egg off the other family so she could bake a cake for the wedding??!!! I mean, really! And something about her husband giving the two CA girls a hard time about the livestock, I can't remember much except yelling at the TV when that happened. (Yes, I usually am sane.)

You know what really freaked me out though? Remember when the TV cameras recorded all the mice activity at night, running across floors, rafters and whatnot? Ugh! I do not do rodents and that would have made me crater, right then and there!

The nicest thing I saw was when Nate bought his bride the beautiful wedding gown, making it so she wouldn't have to wear that ghastly purple thing the wardrobe people picked out for her. I thought that was so thoughtful on his part.

LOL, Kim! Karen was the one who bragged about how well-prepared she was, then had to borrow eggs--more than once! She's the one about whom the woman from CA said, Well, every town has to have it's Mrs. Olsen.

What a hilarious statement! When did she say this, Ann? That is a classic.

Yep, those mice were freaking me out, too. YIKES! How could they live like that?

I reread my post up above and realize I must have been on medication when I wrote that. Every other word is mispelled. LOL GEEZ

We've finally got it here in New Zealand. I think it starts next week. I'm looking forward to seeing it, after reading the comments you've all made about the series.

I didn't hear it on the show, I read it in an article about the show. So either she said it for a reporter or it was in the 1200 hours they taped for FH, of which only 6 are parat of the show. I think I put a link to the article at the beginning of the post.

(The above post was in response to Delilah's.) Yep, I did. I had to go back and look.
