Subject: Melissa Gilbert on MSNBC

Hi, I am a lurker. For the fans of the LHOTP TV show, Melissa Gilbert is going to be on "Scarborough Country" on MSNBC here in the United States on Friday, July 25. Check your local listings to find out when the show is on in your area. From what the previews show, she expresses support of President Bush--the show is live from Hollywood this week!

Hi, Carol. Thanks for the tip, I'll check the TV listings. BTW, does anyone think that Melissa's career as an adult might have been different if her voice was different? I mean, she has been in a lot of TV movies, but I wonder if her "little girl" voice has held her back somewhat.

I saw the show. Melissa looked very nice! Essentially what she said was that actors should be able to express their opinions about politics without fear of losing work, at least that's how I heard it. She said her husband is a conservative and, as she put, she is not, so they have some very interesting discussions at home. :)

I am going to try to type in the link here to get a transcript of the show so that you can all read Melissa's comments. You will have to scroll down to her interview.

Thanks, Carol, the link worked. What I had seen was the part of the show with the Melissa interview, but not all the others. Interesting reading. After re-reading Melissa's interview it came across to me that she was commenting on an actor who had criticized Bush and was in danger of losing work because his comments were considered unacceptable by some people in Hollywood. Since Melissa is a polite person as far as I can see I think she would not publicly bash any president (or anyone), but she was defending the actor's right to criticize without fear of losing work, as had happened to many in Hollywood during the McCarthy era.
Since the first George (Washington) people have criticized presidents, and I assume they always will. :)
