I've had books published, but I haven't done any self-publishing. However, I know people who have. It's a lot of work. You have to find someone to print the book at a cost low enough so that you can sell it at a reasonable price and still make a profit (usually you want it to be 1/4 to 1/5 of what you sell it for so you can offer discounts to stores and distributors.) You often have to order at least 1,000 copies to get a good price, and that's a lot of books and lot of money for your initial inventment.
YOU have to be the one to sell and distribute the books.

If you just want a few copies for family and friends, then you might be able to do it yourself with desktop publishing.

Another avenue is through something such as iUniverse or Publish America, which do print-on-demand. I *think* there is no charge to you, at least with Publish America, and books are printed up as they are ordered. You can usually order them for about a 40% discount, so you could have copies for local booksignings at fairs, author events, etc.
Do a Google search for these companies. Also, check your library and book stores for books about self-publishing to get the complete nitty gritty.

I will look up those companys at Google. But one more thing, "Do I have to copy and print out my own book after I'm done it? And do I need to talk to someone for self-publishing?"

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you want to do the whole thing yourself (write, print out, bind, and distribute the book, which would be a ton of work) you could just do it all yourself. Or you could find a printer or copier place that could make copies and bind the book, but to get a decent price you'd probably have to have a lot of copies made. You'd also have to distribute the book.
The sites for iUniverse and Public America should have information on how to submit there.

It depends on how you do it. If you do desktop publishing, or have it printed up and bound at a copy shop, you can decide the price. But I don't know what the policy is at places such as iUniverse and Publish America.

It's learning page layout, graphic design, etc., so you can publish your own newspaper, brochures, books, etc.
