Subject: Frontier House, the final episodes

I found myself feeling sorry for Karen Glenn. She seemed to realize, too late, that her attitude and critcisms turned off everyone--even her husband, and it looked as if she tried to be better, cheering others on at the celebration at the end. It was sad too, when she expressed the hope that her bread would win (I know, she still wanted to win, but there was such a desperate long in her voice, as if what she really wanted was to be liked). Also, wishing she could be more like the other two women, creating prettier homes and (in her mind) *being* prettier themselves.
It really bothered me that Karen's husband decided he thought he really didn't want to be a step-father to her kids. Fine time to decide that, after he's already married to her! As she said, they are a package deal. Also, earlier he'd made some comment about how the only person in the world he cared about was *his* daughter (from a previous marriage, I assume).
When it was all over and people were back in their homes, it was interesting about how the Clunes felt about their huge new house. The mother, daughter and neice all said they felt it was too big, that there were rooms that weren't even being used, that it felt kind of lonely. You could see they had no where enough furniture for such a huge house. How much space does one family need, anyway!

Karen Glen deserves everything she got and is getting. She is probably responsible for her husband not wanting to be a stepfather to her kids. I just hope she watches this and sees how awful she is. Of course editing could have made her look worse than she actually is. She is so self absorbed and so wanting to put down the Clunes at every opportunity. I just couldn't stand her. I did like the Brooks and so happy the were the ones who would have made it. I liked the Clunes a little, even though they cheated. They didn't seem to be out to beat the others, just wanted to get by as easily as possible even if it meant cheating and justifying it.

Karen did say something at one point about how she thought that people who divorced and then had a second marriage, held back on their feelings to some extent in the second marriage. If that's how she really feels, it does not sound like an attitude that's going to help a second marriage succeed. I couldn't stand her at first either, and it's not as if I like her now. I just thought toward the end she revealed herself to be more vulnerable and insecure, which is probably why she criticized the Clunes. She had to tear them down in order to build herself up. But, yes, she brought everything on herself. Even near the end, I think if she had out and out apologized for her attitude and explained she wanted to change, the others might have accepted that. But she didn't do it.

I agree. I don't know that I saw a change in attitude. I don't think she thinks she was wrong. However if she does and trys to make ammends then she should be forgiven. She is obviously very insecure.
