That was a great website! After listening to those tracks I now feel like I am getting into the Christmas spirit!!

Kim, recently (last decade or so), it has become quite popular here in Australia to try and 'create' our own Australian traditions and beliefs in regards to Father Christmas/Santa Claus. Over here younger children tend to ask us many difficult questions such as "Why doesn't it snow here at Christmas" and "Doesn't Father Christmas get hot in his red suit" etc as our kids see lots of depictions of him amidst snowy scenes or in front of a nice roaring fire. We try to tell our kids that when he gets to the hotter countries he wears board shorts and singlet tops with sandals. We also try to pass on to them that when he gets to Australia he swaps his reindeer for the white boomers - but to be honest children seem to like the idea of reindeer much better - especially Rudolph of course!

Much as I love Christmas in Australia, I would just love to experience a snowy Christmas someday.

LOL! Six White Boomers is sung by Rolf Harris. When I was young, we had a Rolf Harris record (I'm embarrased to say). This was on the record, so when I was singing along (not having heard the track for about 25 years, but you don't forget one like that!), my husband asked if I'd been listening all day. Certainly cheered up my evening. Thanks Kim!

I couldn't download the song. My hubby doesn't want me downloading the software needed to hear it--he has all his work on this computer (which is really his, I have my own litte Mac, but no internet on it, sniff) and is paranoid that downing loading anything "foreign" will do something drastic to the computer. So I have *no idea* what the song says, lol! But at least now I know

If you have WindowsMedia, then you don't really have to download anything off of the Country 105 website, if that's what your hubby is worried about. You just click on the song and WM plays it for you. You aren't given the option to save it to disk like on some other sites; it just plays the track once, then you have to click it again to replay. If that won't work, then .... hop in your car and drive on up. I'll put on some coffee, warm up some banana muffins, and we can play the songs here and sing along, as loud as we want!

Glad that Anne and Ellie enjoyed the experience! Thanks for letting me know who sings the song. I always wondered. We just LOVE the accent! (And when the boys saw me go online just now .... "Mum, play Six White Boomahs again, please!")

I did click on the song and it didn't play for me. It's not the web site being foreign, it's the Windows Media something or other that popped up and said it would have to be downloaded in order to play the song on our computer. Any software or whatever it is my hubby didn't put on the computer himself is what he considers "foreign," lol!
I think it'd be more fun to zoom up to your place and take you up on the coffee and banana muffins anyway, especially if you have snow and it looks Christmasy up there! But time being limited, I'd have to find a way to beam myself up there. :)

If you change your mind, my coffee pot is always at the ready, and I'm baking cranberry scones this morning. (The house smells fabulous!) Trying to think of a way for you to hear Six White Boomers .... do you have an internet cafe or something nearby?! it's such a cute song .... my kids' hands down favourite.

*shivering because it's Christmassy and I need to go split some firewood ..... hubby is away on a business trip and didn't realize the temps would plummet like they have .... and my duvet is STILL at the dry cleaners.....*

with mention of such delicious sounding goodies, lol?
I'm not sure if there's still an internet cafe downtown or not. I know there used to be. Maybe I could even find on tape or CD. (I can see the look on the clerk's face when I ask for it!)
Keep warm, and enjoy your cranberry scones. And if a snow-covered figure comes crawling up your walk and scratches at your door begging for baked goods, that's me! :)

LURE!! (Is it working?) I keep checking the front walk and the only snowy figures I see are my kids goofing around in the yard. The cranberry scones were marvelous; if you ever tell me you're coming, I'll bake more. One of my favourite breakfast treats!

How do you know I'm not one of the snowy figures goofing around in the snow, LOL?
I'll call ahead, and I'll be sure to show up around breakfast time. Yum!
