Subject: Looking into producing a single-title, very glam pageant for "older" ladies and want your input....

Seriously looking into it

Two important questions...if you were going to compete in a new pageant that seems likely to become high profile and is exclusively for the "older" set...

What would you suggest as the minimum age? This would be a single title pageant; should it start at 40? 45? Something else? With the right criteria could someone near (or over) 60 compete fairly with someone 42?

What time of year would be best? Venue would likely be in the DFW area, so it's hot in the summer, and there are so many pageants in the summer. Is that still best or would Spring or Fall be better?

More questions to follow as the possibility for doing this in 2013 firms up.

[> Subject: Wow, this would take a book for all the input I have. 40 minimum. As long as there is an equalizer, like no swimsuit and regulated fitness wear, the physical won't be that far off. But once the younger ones start showing skin, they seem to win it all. This is a fabulous idea, and growing quickly. Please consider location, categories, high quality production, short and sweet, tons of marketing, a great web site, and keep it away from all the other dates, please!

Interview, EG and fitness (jogging pants and pageant shirt)
fitness would be more fair that way so flaws could be hidden under pants and pageant shirt.

Have it a 2 day event with interviews in morning and EG fitness at night for the first night and finals the second night.

It would be nice to have a fee of $500 no madatory ad which i think would catch the attention of a large group of women.
[> Subject: OP Here, sorry not ready to attach my name to this yet, but am making some progress on partners. Was definitely leaning toward 45 as a minimum, but had hoped to have swimsuit. Some of you 50+ gals can still rock it, plus that equals more likely news coverage. Will consider all your thoughts...really need input on Spring, Summer or Fall soon..

[> [> Subject: no swimsuit, please, you'll lose half your audience if not more. I can work a swimsuit if I really have to, but most 50's can't do it and will not be pitted up against younger legs. You just can't do it after a certain age and look presentable. So, please, fitness, and make it across the board.

[> Subject: 40 is a fine age to start at. It keeps you open to more contestants that way. Being honest - You simply are not going to get a level playing field between a 42-year-old body and a 62-year-old body. That is simply nature. If you want to do swimwear, that is fine, but if you want to attract an age range between 40-70 and have it be 100% fair, then you need to swap out fitness/swimwear for a talent or presentation category. This might be nice as it would also open you up to plus-sized pageant ladies as well. I like the fall, so that would be my preference!

Heavily weighted in interview & platform. They are accepting delegates for this year's competition at large and some are already applying to re present their states for the Fall 2013 Pageant. No age mentioned in the program book. Ms. is 24-39 and Elite is 40+. Fall Pageants!! Summer rush is over thank goodness.
