I am all for our athletic teams reaching for a higher level against tough competition, but I am finding this UConn game pointless. We are getting creamed which is what any reasonable person would expect.
I don't mind when we have even a 1-10 shot, but wasn't this a 1-100 shot?

No. Closer to a 1-1,000,000,000 shot. They were a 54 point underdog - and UConn could win by 80 if they chose to press the whole game.

Actually I am reversing my opinion. Yes we are getting creamed, but there is a semblemce of a well coached team with our ladies. We are seriously out manned, or out womaned, if you will, but making the occasional good shot and some pretty good passing, even if much of it is disrupted. Probably fun to play in a packed house, even if many are UConn fans. There are plenty of good teams that will lose to this UConn team by 50 or more.

It was at the request of UConn which wanted a home game close to Syracuse, the home of B. Stewart. Syracuse U. could not accommodate UConn. Game being carried on TV by SNY network so its a money game for Colgate. Also, full house at $25 a ticket. It's okay, if you like being humiliated. Watch someone will step in and say it was a great opportunity for the players and they loved it.

apparently we're willing to "pimp" the pathetic WBB program out for a few bucks...I suggest learning to crawl before you try and walk and frankly we're at the 2month infant stage...pretty sad IMO

One correction: Syracuse "could" have accomodated UConn. In fact, they have a home game tonight that they scheduled well after UConn had to turn to Colgate. The operative phrase is that Syracuse was afraid to play UConn.

As for SNY, they televise all UConn games that arent' picked up by ESPN. I don't think Colgate gets any money for it, but as you say a lot of money was made from ticket sales. The best seats actually sold for $50.

This is no different than the men's games this week vs. 'Cuse and TCU other than it's in Hamilton to get Stewart a home game, as noted above. Players do love it, school makes a little $$, packed house... what's the problem?

There is some difference. The men were far less of an underdog at Syracuse or TCU than the women were vs UConn. On the right night, the men could even beat TCU, who isn't a lot better than the top PL teams. On the best night in their history, the women couldn't come close to UConn.

I am with Gate'83.

If you just watch the postgame interview on the Colgate website you will get what's positive for the coach and the players. To my mind, that's what counts- it's for them and Vicky's team to coordinate and enjoy a top class team coming to Cotterell, fill the place, the play the perennially top-ranked team in the nation (which Nicci says showed their class and I believe her), inspire Colgate players to learn from them in such a setting.

One Colgate player said it was magical for the little girls in attendance. I believe her, too.

So it's not always about winning and losing; if you have coached a girl's or women's team you would know that they find advantages and opportunities for growth in all the challenges that they take on.

Congratulations to all the participants for a great evening that will long remembered by those who enjoyed themselves. They made a smart decision.

Go 'gate!

Well said. I watched the game and the post-game presser on You Tube. I am proud of the players, coaches, university, and community. By the way, theses young ladies define student-athletes.

One of our players - forget her name - put up some amazing treys toward the end of the game - shots even Geno and Breanna had to admire.

[> [> Cheerleading aside, test for Nicci 2015-16 weak PL, her 5th year -- Swish, 12/10/15 3:51:58pm Thu

Events like this o.o.c. game are wonderful.
Make no mistake about it...it's time for some substantive progress in a very weak P.L. WBB in 2015-16.
Without diminishing the challenge that Nicci willingly took on 4 seasons ago, she has witnessed 4 new Head Coaches in PL women's BB since she started. This year's preseason reveals a much weaker league than the past couple of years. Loyola, Lafayette, Holy Cross, Boston and American all have losing records. The latter two have yet to win a game. Holy Cross is reeling from losing their star of the last three years.Etc.

Nicci has an opportunity to have her team competitive in more than half of their schedule. And, any team is beatable on any given game day in league play.

The presence that she has developed for WBB and its evolving culture is certainly appreciated. But, this will become stale if she can't capitalize on a weak league in her 5th year with her players.
