QB Pujals was supposed to be a great recruit that never amounted to much IMO. With his stats, you would expect better results. All of HCs wins this season were against weak opponents, but they did finish with a winning record for the first time in how long? That should be a reason for optimism for their team, not Colgate's run to the playoffs.
Turning a bad start around is daunting. How did 'Gate do it? What did Melville or Quazza or Bowman or Holland or the defense do better after their losses to UNH or Yale or Princeton?!
Our strategy is as plain as the noses on our faces, and SHSU knows this. I suppose our best defense will be keeping our offense on the field or causing some miscues like we did at JMU. Easier said than done!
Would have been happy and proud had the season ended last weekend, but now I am more nervous than ever. It has been a long time coming for Colgate or any PL team. It is great being Cinderella for more than a day. Everyone loves an underdog and Colgate fits the bill.
Holy Cross has suffered through several years of disappointing performance in FB. Check their record for the last couple of years. The have lost many games by one or two points. Pujals is a good QB but things have not clicked for the team and it has been frustrating. You can't blame them for looking for some positive signs. They will be back and competitive in the league although there are questions about T. Gilmore's ability to get it done. I wish they were our last game each year. They have a similar history and we have played them for a long time. They are a natural rivalry for Colgate.
