Agree vball at Colgate is competitive and has a successful history under Baker. But like WSoc, they often struggle against the teams above them in the PL. In volleyball, that is American, which has dominated with its European stars. Is this roster indicative of most PL teams? Certainly not Colgate's.

For the 3rd straight year in the PL, BU seems unstoppable in WSoc. The tough OOC schedules for Colgate may build character and help prepare for the PL, but the Raiders have difficulty against top teams in many sports. I'm still waiting for WHOC to catch fire. Enough 9th place finishes already!

Field Hockey's record notwithstanding, its players - and all sports and student athletes at Colgate - make those associated with the university very proud on and off the field.

True. But the Patriot League's founding is based on student-athletes being like students at a particular institution. American has many more transfers and European students than any other patriot league school. Their teams mirror their student body (though not ours).

And to be fair: They do not run Football, Hockey, and a few other key sports Colgate runs. They are going to clean our clock in a few areas because they can take the money and admission support that would go to football, hockey, lax, etc., and spend it on VB, BB, etc.

These teams at American and Boston are reflective of their student body and A.I.. Many are great students. Don't be so parochial, gate!

How representative are any of our football teams with regards to which academic areas they major in? Study Abroad? Double majoring?

Only two PL roster lists show majors, Colgate and Lehigh. Of the 40 jrs and srs at Colgate with declared majors, the breakdown is as follows 8 Econ/math econ, 6 history, 5 poly sci, 4 geology, 3 each for sociology and ed studies, 1 each neuroscience, afr. amer. studies, art & art hist., philosophy, psych, biology, peace & conflict studies, theater and latin. In short, almost exactly what one would expect from any random collection of Colgate students. Maybe a bit light on english and biology (pre-med) but given the sample size that is likely meaningless.

Without knowing much about Lehigh student's choices in majors, their break-down also looks like it matches up similarly to the overall distribution - 6 business majors of various types, 10 engineering majors of various types - no major with more than 3 players (mech eng.)

I would find this statement to be outright silly if it weren't for the fact that it maligns students that in my experience were as qualified as and worked as hard as, if not harder, than the overall student population. This isn't the SEC.

Not so sure AU or Boston U. have student bodies that have AI's that are similar to other PL schools but, I have not seen the latest numbers.
