Syracuse in 1987 was #4 when we played them, and later in the season as high as #2. Penn State in 1980 was in the top-10 (I think as high as #5, depending on the poll). Rutgers in 1976 was #16 when we took them to the last play, and would have beaten them if not for a ref's botched call that the NCAA publicly admitted.

Navy is very strong this year, and routed some good FBS teams as easily as they did Colgate. It certainly means the results of our game with them have to be seen in a different light than at the time.

I think they were #1 when they beat us 72-0 in 1959 with Ernie Davis.

....and National Champions at that! Also beat us something like 56-7 in 1961, with Ernie, the last game with 'Cuse of the old era.
