Having #1 back on D seemed to make a big difference - This was the quote, saying changing one kid on def made a BIG difference. And, this is the only change on the starting roster for Def., just one player is all we have changed defensively to start. My point wasn't, that yes #1 made an interception as did Morgan, which were great plays defensively. But, there were also interceptions made in the NH game by #31 and the Yale game by #23, great defensive plays too. Point was, how can you say changing one kid was BIG, when he didn't make any more of a difference in the position played then the one playing it before him. If #31 had no tackles and no interception and #1 came in with his interception and 6 tackles, then maybe the comment might be justifiable. Make no sense in all the threads about Def being bad and changes need to be made, that they were made and that is why we beat Holy Cross, that there is only one kid moved from starting on def and the kid had 25 tackles in 3 games and an interception. Long winded sentence there. We won the game is what matters. There were good plays by some good players as there were in the previous games. Looking forward to the game tonight!

I was one of the people that mentioned that #1 played very well and the defense seemed to be in sync than in other games--changing coverages on Morgan's pick is something I feel like I saw more of in that game (or maybe I just recognized it more). Not sure if it was just the defense finding its identity--the D has had great stretches in every game it has played this year. Not sure if it was the level of competition across the board against H.C.--the OL and DL really had their way with those guys. And I don't know if on the offensive side that was because of three O-linemen were playing different positions or because HC had fewer guys in the box. Is #73 better suited to be a guard than a center? Don't know but the line looked good. I do think that from a fan's perspective #31 has been as solid of a performer on D as there has been this year. Kid looks very fast and might be the surest tackler--he was everywhere against Navy, cleaning up a lot of messes. There were a bunch of missed tackles in the first three games, just don't remember them being by him. I have no idea if he has made other mistakes that would warrant him not being with the 1's--if he hasn't been as good in coverage as some of the other guys or that there are things other guys bring to the table he doesn't. But from what I can see (which is not watching game film and not having more than a laymen's understanding of the defensive schemes) he certainly seems to have played as well as anybody on D.
