Future, Colgate doesn't need to play teams like Navy to play at the highest level of the FCS. The PL has an auto bid to the tournament. The players might like it and the money is good but, starting the season with a win could do much for confidence building. BTW, I would not have played Syr. again until Colgate had two years under its belt with the full compliment of scholarships.

Going to steal your thread so I do not have to start one for a single post, but I have more BS to share and that is with the field hockey team being outscored 17-4 in 3 games. Total SOG for the season are embarrassing:

'Gate: 26 (13 on goal)
Opp: 89 (61 on goal)

Now 0-3 and another illustrious year awaits. Lord have mercy. Hate to see any Colgate team do poorly. Hope they can right the ship...somehow.

Field Hockey - so what's new. The coach has been there for decades and the results have been the same. Good for the players, if they don't mind but, they deserve better.

Coach is subpar and has been for years. We should drop the sport and use admission slots elsewhere.

Back to football. I agree that the 'Cuse game should have been put off a couple more years. I see both sides of the coin with Navy. In a way the payday and PR are good for the school, helps in recruiting with the CBS package and all, blah, blah, blah. On the other it's disheartening to have a huge one-sided loss at the start. The upside is that it gives the coaches and team a measurement of how much pre-season and off-season practices have got the team ready for the season. A way to measure themselves vs. a good test. Obviously the score was a blow-out. It would be nice if we could have eliminated errors and had a much closer final score.Duh.
