Subject: WSOC o.o.c. schedule:, UCONN, BC, P.C., St. John, Sou. Car, SYR & ALB

There's little doubt that the WSOC dynasty that Kathy Brawn has established
continues to challenge itself in multiple ways. Correct if I'm wrong...but the o.o.c. schedule that Kathy has assembled this year is the toughest of any Colgate team in recent memory. These schedules seem to get tougher every year. This year includes University of Connecticut, Boston College, Providence, Syracuse, South Carolina, Cornell, St. Johns and Albany. Because WSOC is a perennial candidate to make the NCAA tourney via PL Championship or at large selection, building RPI is a driving force. WSOC was robbed last year of an at large berth, given the RPI they had amassed despite losing in the PL championship game to Boston. Will that give this veteran team the motivation to turn some heads in this o.o.c. schedule ? The WSOC season is especially interesting because their strategy of playing conference representatives, two ACC, two Big East, one SEC, one American, one Ivy, is for more than the proverbial "moral victory" of gate stretch games. Remember where you heard this first...This may be the most interesting gate team to watch this year! go gate !

Coaching change to be watched as well.

Schools like Colgate are capable of creating dynasties or niches within specific competitive sports in Div. 1. Like Biddle, it has been more than just longevity that (has) continued to push their success along. Although it does reinforce success if the right components are put into place. Conversely, longevity doesn't seem to have a positive impact on sports programs that are just muddling through, year-to-year, once the base has been put in place. Keep your eyes on Fargo, Hays-Fort, Langel and Murphy. Has their fate been set ?

We may have been robbed last season, but we could barely keep pace with our *NEW* Patriot League member BU, which dominated us. As good as we are every season, the NCAA tournament is always a wake up call for the obscure PL. Cherish that 2-0 win over #13 Arizona in 2004!

By the end of this weekend, we'll have an idea of how this year's WSOC team plays against good competition. UCON WSOC already has 2 exhibition victories under its belt. The Huskies women’s soccer team, the reigning ACC champ was voted as the favorite in the 2015 American Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll.

BC, which will play its opener Friday night against Gate WSOC PL nemesis BU. BC has been ranked 8th in the Preseason Poll among the 14 member ACC WSOC teams.
