Please explain to me how getting beat by 60 is a good thing, see you are drinking the Kool-Aid too. This is simply about finances, Colgate is probably getting a pay day from UCONN and will make some money at the gate.
Sad part it is probably being celebrated internally has a great thing/exposure.
I feel for the student athletes, someone should get their head checked for signing off on it.
Brianna will probably play 2-3 quarters for her "home" game.

Not everything that occurs in the Athletics Department will make sense to you and I am absolutely sure that the money angle you introduced here from a packed house is no explanation as to why Conn will play at Colgate. And for goodness sake, why would you imagine that anyone's head should be checked? Not very conducive to teambuilding - as far as the department's mission is concerned.
How 'bout asking the coach and/or her players if they think such a high caliber team coming to Cotterell will attract fans, a lot of excitement alongside opportunities for the players to show what they can do under such challenging circumstances, and impress applicants as a differentiator when they recruit? Oh, and you should know that Colgate played there last year and so I expect that a return visit is a given.
The team is now in New Zealand playing basketball and enjoying themselves. The men's team is off to Spain while men's ice hockey are headed to Italy. It's a credit to Vicky, her assistants and the coaches that they promote such exposure whenever they can, especially considering how worthy they (and these events) are for these dedicated and hard working individuals.
Yes, these are big occasions and they make sense. Win or lose in any of these games Colgate students will be the better off for the effort. So in my mind they win regardless.

The last time Colgate played at UConn was in 2012 - and there were no plans at that time for UConn to play a return game, which they only do for power-conference teams. The idea of a visit to Hamilton only came up last Fall after Syracuse refused. When you say "return visit", do you mean that you expect Colgate to play a return game at UConn next year?

Steve, you keep writing that MHoc will be playing in Italy. No. They will be playing in Northern Ireland. They played in Italy several years ago.

My mistake about the Conn game being a return game. It seems like only last year that I recall seeing the article about the game and the photo of the 2 presidents - brother and sister - and the coaches with tee shirts etc.
About Europe, the men's hockey team is heading to Italy soon for the experience, playing there as they did 4 years ago. They will also be in Belfast for a tournament in November.

The men's bb team played Duke in Emmett Davis' last year, when Duke was defending national champ and had Kyrie Irving, Kyle Singler, and at least 3 others who played in the NBA. They lost by 52. I was there and it was a blast watching the Raiders cope (well) with the pressure from the Cameron crazies, and (not so well obviously) that from Irving and Singler. The Raiders played very respectively in the first half, hanging with the Blue Devils well into the game until the inevitable.
The team loved the experience of playing in Cameron. The wbb team playing UConn, at Cotterell for crying out loud, would be an analogous situation. I can't see how this can possibly be a bad thing.
