deeply speaking through nothing
address my clothes with discontent
it is not the humbleness i have
or lack of care for social whim
an objective view to all beautiful
but holes in my clothes catch you
your attire matched mine of today
before your current work situation
so how can i not think it coincides
it is a matter of class distinction
the shelves in the stores sold clothes
clothes like mine for no cheap cost
would i have been acceptable then
one used to have to wear them out
several times through history repeat
fashions far abandoned will rise up
i don't want to dress you says you
then what is it you'd have me do
wear what you like for you catch 22
for i exhibit what you don't like
or conform to who you want to see
sure you'll complain of hypocrisy
the argument is the same throughout
buy into selling yourself to others
face paint features aren't adequate
perfume for attracting desired sex
shoes to walk presentational and
shoes must make feet look sleek
garments show just enough skin
draw that attention to imagination
for the soft flesh under fabric so thin
hair must only be neat and primmed
unaccepted growth plucked and trimmed
socially determined what's in or out
essentially we are still in this dilemma
should i be disgusted and unconcerned
or look good in the context of society
just so i can feel good to be me?
