The southern section of the territory is where the forest really gets dense. The gargantuan trees grow up to a hundred feet wide, with huge gnarled roots twisting the ground into one big obstacle course. In many places there's hardly a foot or two between tree trunks, with their roots twined so tightly as to be plaited. Unless you're a cub or a tan, you're going to have a hard time moving about on the ground. The solution? To the trees! All Korats can climb, with blacks and tans being far better at it than reds, and whites having a hard time scaling anything. But all Korats can jump, as well, and that's the best course of action - leaping from branch to branch, some of which are wider than a normal tree's trunk! This is a good place to play, as well as exercise - thus some of the training is done here. Tew is most likely to be found here, with his entourage of cubs and students, racing amidst the branches.

Eciwis slows as she nears the center of this southern area, her muzzle and tail dipping just before she catches sight of red Shula. A mental notice keeps two of three 'Seconds a good ten meters behind her as she continues forward, Ejiro continuing forward to stand at her side despite the Leader's wishes... an action that didn't particularly surprise the femme, though she feared for his wounds, and subsequent bloodloss.

Silently, she presses herself closer to the male who quivered, not from fear, but from pain. Her gaze rises to watch Shula as he draws closer, but her mouth stays shut. Her words could only emphasize the obvious error that had been made, or serve to seemingly make excuses for her misuse of power. She intended to do neither, but simply to accept whatever punishment the massive male intended for her, so long as her pack was permitted to leave without any harm coming to them, and her mate was allowed a week to rest and recover.

First, however, she would see what the red wished. Bargaining for her necessary goals would come after the bar was set.

Behind Eciwis, Cesaz began to shift uncomfortably, her massive blade fairly twitching behind her. She didn't like standing down, nor admitting the fact that her leader was wrong. Claws tested the soil as the femme waited, her gaze flicking from Shula to those who might come to stand behind him, ready still, should her leader will it, to race forward and fight beside her.

Cesaz, Kyval.

Both 'Seconds knew better than to give physical or verbal response to this, though the male couldn't help but shiver slightly, fearing what was to come next.

Depending on what I need to do to protect the Pack, I might not be leaving with you upon departure. If... this occurs, do not expect Ejiro to leave with you either, and announce that Kyval will stand as Pack Leader, Cesaz his Second. You two will support each other, and I know that the pack will flourish with the combination of your intelligence and power...

Kyval cringed as felt the surge of frustration and pain rip throughout his russet 'fao's body... and was silently glad for Eciwis that Cesaz was only capable of hearing the telepathy.

Lithe tan body flipped to the right as a deadly bolt of energy rose from the earth beneath her, Eciwis' ears pinned flat to her skull as the thunderous incarnate of Koratian soul ripped past her body, taking shreds of fur with it as it continued to rise. She continued her mid-air rolling dive until she was able to arch backwards slightly, her claws scraping into the bark of the nearest tree. Breathing heavily, Eciwis allowed herself a moment of rest, recognizing the tell-tale signs of failing endurance that so plauged the tan race, and giving herself brief time for recovery, a few pelash all that her well-trained body needed before she could continue to chase after the...

Echoing words from across the territory caused her a second's pause, the strong baritone of Kisiniyama's words rolling through her skull like a knife. Eciwis' muzzle turned, and for a brief moment, the sheer tone of the Unforgiven's call caused her to draw back from the unnatural fury that had driven her. But, peace lasted only for an instant, as the stench of the rotting carcasses that lay in waste about the territory revisited her mind and senses. Shaking her muzzle, Eciwis sent a mental summons to Kyval to investigate the red's situation.

A soft mental voice, entirely devoid of emotion, gave the one-word response. No.

The Pack Leader stopped once again in her tracks, eyes widening slightly in surprise that melted into the fires aggravation. She turned instinctively towards her last scent of the male, and then paused. Time was of the escence, and she would deal with a direct deviance from orders after this matter was settled. Lifting her muzzle to the air, Eciwis regained Shula's musky scent, and turned swiftly to start up the chase once more.

She found herself face to face with a long tawny face, dimmed viridian eyes holding her own with little sign of fear. Eciwis blinked once, then allowed her lips to curl back, revealing powerful and bloodied teeth, and upholding her own dominance.

Kyval gave no sign of response to this, neither respect nor defiance touching his form. The ferocity of his gaze dimmed swiftly, his tenor voice sounding aged and weak as he finally did move his lips.

"We are covered in innocent blood."

Azure eyes grew round and pale, an odd expression formed as the fury at disobediance faded into absolute horror at the blatant truth lying behind grey-green voids of despair. There was no need to question his source, nor the reason for such powerful words. Only a painful, absolute fact of truth could destroy a young beast's soul in such a manner.

Eciwis turned, and she ran at a speed beyond any which she had reached before. No longer towards Shula did she race, but to the center of the echoing forest, a single word resounding forward in mind and voice, the predestined call rising nearing a hysterical scream.

"CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

Deyt's limbs tremble. The feeble, stringy muscles of her past seem to return to her from years back, overcoming her built-up and solely-aqcuired strength. She groans, staggering to the left and into the trunk of a tree that was left alive in the violent battle. Her heart pounds sluggishly, breath drawn in ragged, coarse gasps. One cybernetic arm is lifted as the Korat begins to drag herself away from the scene of death, step by step by step. Bones and tendons creak and squeal in her lumbering gait, head hung low and tail literally dragging across the ground. Talons catch on roots and many times she comes close to falling.. and she knows, oh /how/ she knows.. that if she falls, she will not rise again. She aches all over - neck especially. Warm, dark liquid trickles down through the mangy strands of fur, coarse and unhealthy, making them sticky and matted.

And the shadows grow long was Ghrayu sinks lower in the sky, staining this forest of blood with a dust of orange.

Those who are inactive without reason may have something particularly nasty happen to their chars... O_O;; Also, Shula and Atumi last posted to their opponents here and here, respectively, which is why I'm not writing new stuff for them yet.))

The ever-moving blur of bloodied, dulled golden is beginning to tire, but surely not as badly as his opponent must be wearing down. Tew has excellent endurance for a tan--he can often keep up with even skilled blacks--and he doubts Ejiro is so lucky as well. Unfortunately, Eciwis is too far away and too embroiled with Shula for Tew to interfere at this point, assuming he could knock her mate away long enough to help his pack leader. But logics have ceased to matter to the young male--it's do or die, and Shula's life is worth far more than his own.

A snarl without any ferocity behind it rings out, and the 'second twists away from his opponent for a nanosecond. Chest heaving with exertion, Tew ricochets his lean body off a conveniently located tree bough, a strange crackling noise in the air around him. A mirthless little grin warping his expression, baby-blue eyes seem hard and unforgiving as his thin tailblade cracks in a whiplash-motion towards his opponent. Blade-like energy lances through the air, unseen and unheard, at an angle that would dislocate a vertebrae in his opponent's neck and temporarily paralyze the other pack second.

Who knows if Ejiro is accustomed to these types of underhanded tricks and will be intelligent--and fast--enough to dodge, but Tew doesn't care. He doesn't wait to see the results of his attack, but instead rockets into the tops of the trees to join Shula. The sleek, slender male is slowing, wearied from his energy strike, but he knows that he'd have a better chance against Eciwis any day than Shula would. Big, dumb, slow-esh red that he is.

From the shadows of the branches, fourty-one Korats held their positions in silence, their loyal gazes directed towards a lithe female leaning easily outwards upon a thin branch. Her amber gaze flicked back and forth across the dense forest, tail arching upwards behind her in a lean but deadly arche. She inhaled the air of woods, taking in the scents of Korat's come and gone, recognizing that most scents of this place were old and faded. There hadn't been life here in days. However, one strong notion pervaded the female's senses, that of the pack boundary line, accentuated by four very strong males who kept it. She snorted lightly, and inhaled again, taking in the masses of beasts who called this place home. Far too many to begin with, and the majority were youth, who still had yet to grow and start families of their own. This size of pack would be difficult to maintain, and the amount of prey-beasts taken down in a year with so many hungry young mouths to feed? Unthinkable, in the face of Lavana's herbivore crisis.
Eciwis' eyes narrowed, and she nodded once. Her mate Ejiro, and his cousin Kyval stepped up behind her, agile tawny paws having no difficulty maintaining balance on the thin plant-life that supported them.
The grey-toned tan male followed his mate's gaze off into the distance. "This is the place?"
The femme dipped her muzzle once in affirmation, her amber gaze hardening as she continued to watch the horizon. Kyval nodded in turn, and turned back to the rest of the pack, his powerful baritone echoing through the trees to burrow into the heart of each packmember present.
"We have arrived! Ready yourselves mri'tha, to prove the worth of our years of training in the art of agility, the intelligence of the swift, and the strength of the wind! Our time is now, and we will defeat this Pack, and show how true Korats live with honor, and win in glory!"

Hearing the others hot on his heels, Jurama smirks to himself as his ears flatten to aid in his running.

Bouncing from tree to tree to gain altitude and momentum, he finds the highest branches possible that are still capable of holding his weight without too much bounce. Sliding and dashing through the trees, his blade flashing dully in the light, the eager young tan thumps his back feet on one bouncing branch to propel himself forward a stride or two, using the boughs as a springboard.

Seeing a particularly rough patch of leaves and thick branches, he wastes no time but dives into them, his flexible spine lowering his body below the punishing sharp ends. Once again a clear alleyway of branches lies ahead and he gallops freely, one ear swiveled back to listen for any sort of shennanigans from his chasers.
