Jurama races on after having regained his balance, feeling the breath seem to come shorter and shorter. But all the while the thing Tew had done keeps racing through his mind. If he hadn't leapt in time, there would be a sprawl of Korats. Or if he hadn't had the room. Perhaps there was more to it than just teaching him not to sit down and pause. Racing underneath the main chase, he uses his muscles to rebound up and up still until his sprint is along the upper branches above the chase rather than below. He'd better be ready to brace, then.

Leaping down with a powerful landing that sinks both claws and blade into the tree bracingly for oncoming traffic, Jurama stops directly in front of Gerwyn and Azeca, less than a Korat length so. Feeling his wiry muscles coil and brace for the tremendous impact should his chase-stopping pounce plan work, he watches them advance with an almost insanely happy gleam in his cucumber green eyes.
