The trio had taken down (but not killed) three Korats in a row without taking heavy injuries to themselves, but young Kemeru was beginning to breathe hard, and others from the enemy pack had finally spotted the three's down-and-dirty ambushes. Two blacks, a tan, and a rather leggy red were advancing on the exposed group, menace in their eyes and speed in their gaits.

Kemeru shot her el'fai a slightly intimidated look, and the tan and striped stepped up to either side of the smaller Korat. Miteli's shadowed blue eyes shone with pure malice as he snarled, a thick thunderous sound that twisted with the promise of bodily harm to those who would attack them. Ajiki, the opposite of li'fai, stood calm and strong and silent, unafraid and unwavering.

Three and four clashed like waves upon a rock, and for all their skills, the three began to falter.
