ok, those who know me know i dont like long pants. i wear shorts all year. in fact i only own one pair of long pants. if it snows i put on a coverall to play in the snow but otherwise, i just dont get cold in my legs and i like shorts.

mom and dad are cool with it and i like it so no problem right?

Well, it was cooler here and i was in the store with mom and this older lady made what i was wearing her business. i was shopping alone and she asked me where my pants were and why was I in shorts. i politely told her that i liked shorts and that i was comfortable.

she then asked if my mom knew i dressed like that, mom must have come up because next i heard was, yes she does. it was Mom. Mom excused us and we walked away.

anyone else wear shorts year round like me? if so, do weird ladies in the store say stuff?

Wow, Turtle!

That was a Weird experience! If you like to wear shorts and it is okay to you- that is on you.

Why does some old lady need to make this her business????

If you were out with her- I would assume she does know you dressed like that!

How weird!

I hate it when other people try to get into our business without being asked. I think its cool that you do that if you want to. Some of the ladies at chruch are always telling us to put on a coat when we play outside. It's Texas it's not like it gets that cold. I think they think we'll get sick or something.

Hello, turtle and all,

I see the guidelines for this forum have been changed so I hope I can contribute even though I'm not a kid any more (well I am a child at heart, I hope!)

If you feel comfortable in shorts even in cooler weather that is perfectly fine. Other kids go barefoot or don't wear a jacket, that just means they are well adapted to the weather and is no reason to worry.

Some parents say "Oh no, my child must be freezing" and bundle up their kids more than they need, that's not good, so it's great that your mom lets you wear what you like.

Some people are just overly curious, I guess that lady couldn't imagine you were feeling fine. (Some people also look at the calendar when they dress, not at the temperature, so they dress too warmly on warm autumn days.) Some may even suspect those kids who don't wear as much as the others are neglected by their parents? (I hope not!)

But when they ask you, just say you're fine and they should not worry. Some people can't mind their own business but sometimes you can have nice conversations and open up new perspectives for them.

When kids say they feel fine, they're usually right about that, why should they lie about it?

Have a good time everyone!

Randy (from Europe)

Hi Turtle,

I like wearing shorts too, but where I live it gets a lot colder. I quit wearing shorts in mid October, but there are kids at my school who still wear shorts. Yesterday, when dad gave me a ride to school, it two degrees outside. At school this kid I know named Ryan was wearing shorts, but he had a coat on. He told me his legs don't get cold. He gets question from people like you did and wished they would mind their own business too. If it doesn't bouther him, it shouldn't bother them. It is going to get much colder, but ome kids will be wearing shorts.

LOL dude i had a similiar experience. I was in Costco and me my mom spit up to make shopping easier, i go get some of the stuff on the list and she gets some stuff. i was wearing a shirt that said "Epic fail" on it and some baggy shorts on some strange lady said "i can't believe your mother let's you dress like that" as she passed me in the frozen food section, she looked like me like i was some troublemaking kid
