Do you feel spanking is effective for your child/children? Why/why not?

Since my wife and I consistently applied the rules of discipline at our house, which included spanking as a possible consequence, we have noticed positive changes in both behavior and attitude with each other and and with us. Moroever, their behavior in public has undergone a major improvement. Therefore, we both believe that spanking, as well as the non-corporal punishments, have proved themselves effective for our children.

Pain is the body's way of alerting an individual to the fact that something is wrong. If a healthy individual was to put his finger on a hot stove, he would instantly retract it due to the pain so that serious injury is averted. If one pulls a muscle, then the limb or area affected will feel sore giving the muscle chance to heal.

The principle of causing limited and superficial pain, without causing injury, to punish bad behavior is sound in my humble opinion. The buttocks - muscle protected by a thick layer of fat - are perfect for administering such a punishment.

I'd say you have it down, Sarah. You def. have the pulse of the situation.
Do you also choose your words careful when you announce/give a spanking?

Yes, it helps. However, boys usually have short memory and lessons time of time must be repeated. My oldest son, 16, gets 1-2 times monthly, younger boys, 12 and 14, almost weekly.

Both of us agree that spanking has its place in disciplining our kids. It is used to teach alesson about what they did wrong. We seldon get repeats of something that they were spanked for.
