The Rinikan's are peaceful enough- one actually travels as part of Cye's group. They're the big wolf creatures- they have were forms as a means to reproduce. They pass the spirit of the were on to their child to give it life, while the other parent passes theirs on to give the child a were form that it can then pass onto its own children. A Rinikan with no were form can not have children, so the vast majority of them do- and since the people there aren't exactly build to fend off flying predators, they use them for the sake of hunting and defense. Because of this, they've become very strong over the years. The Teltheians are.... well, basically, nomadic people that evolved from insects. Weres occur in them as a natural genetic mutation- though WHAT they turn into is entirely random. It's not rare to see them turn into humans and elves, but it's also not unusualy to see them turn into dragons and antlions.

As for other inhabitants of the world.... There's a race of Gliders there that preys on the Rinika- they're quite large, and indiscriminate about what they actually pick off. Their wings make no sound, and the air is filled with ash- so it's impossible to see them coming. I guess even in older ages, they killed volunteer participants of that arena because there was no roof on it.

There are also creatures out and about that are similar to armored horses, but larger. They're unintelligent to begin with, but Were's in them is also not unheard of.
