Well... Taria has always been a world in devotion to the deities of the Twin Suns and Twin Moons. A while back, probably a few years now, we fealt the presence of the Moon Deities vanish. We're not sure why, but at the same time the Dragons returned to our world, and vines began to grow in the Temple of the Moon. It wasn't so bad at first, but then it became impossible for the people there to clear them, and they began to develop thorns that dripped poison from their tips. The thorns are about an inch in diameter, and anywhere from one to three inches long on the larger vines.
Shortly after this, the Moon Temple was evacuated. Priests going in to pray would vanish, and not come back. We sent in a team to look for them, but they never returned. It wasn't until a few months ago that we found out why.

An child got too close to the Moon Temple, and pricked herself on a thorn near its door. She came to our clinic, but she began to change soon after.... Her entire body became enshrouded by shadows that would not come off in the presence of light, and her eyes turned as pure white as the moons above us. She vanished one night, into the Moon Temple.
Ever since, anyone who goes in alone will not come out. Priests who go in with guards will not be attacked, but they almost always loost at least one person before making it back out. They say that they see the eyes of the people watching them from under the vines, and that they lash out at the people and seem to command the vines to take their chosen prey.
A few people have managed to get out after being pricked. It was an outsider who eventually brought us a temporary salvation. A young man, who was pricked the same way as the little girl. He came to our clinic, but he was never fully taken by the shadows. He recovered, and his blood became a cure. We can now treat people who make it back, but the curing process takes a great deal of time and the man that provides us with the medicine is getting weaker and weaker all the time. We have told him to stop helping us and regain his strength, but he refuses to do so long as he can be of SOME use.... And so, we've decided to seek help.
The people who have been cured have all said that the people in the vines are commanded by a central entity that appeared there. They, the children of the shadows, are looking for a king and queen. They say that there are several 'princes' and 'princesses' near the inner sanctum, but nobody here has actually seen them. They claim that those who lurk near the entrance are FAR less dangerous than those inside.
We need your help to reclaim our Moon Temple, and our brothers and sisters....
