 The death of a physical body is not always the deats of a Spirit or Soul. About a third of the ex-pilots have the ability to slay one without the others. I'm one of those that can, so only his physical self was lost. The rest of him is very much alive in higher realms.

The rest of the people I've killed, I killed all three parts. Theres nothing left of them to pay a debt to. Even K'Toni and K'Tonya were killed entirely.
