 He balanced it. Didn't you feel it? He banished the evil creatures that would have destoyed the people, and cleaned the evil within the planet. The magical creatures that live there would have died without the people being there, so now they will live as well.

Though, he DID leave the Dark Thing in the castle. That means that the world is not truly balanced. It still leans towards chaos.
