...there are many rules that we must follow in order to be 'pure' when we die. the blindfolds for one- but it gets much more complicated. we are not allowed to eat or drink anything that the gods have not given to us, we are not allowed to engage in combat, we are not allowed to travel without an escort, we are not allowed to keep journals- not allowed to be in a room alone, to be in crowds of over twenty people, to alter our bodies with tatoos or piercings, to wear clothes not made from select materials, to read litterature not given to us by the gods, to hold conversations with 'commonplace' people, to associate with our relatives, to have close bonds of friendship, to have a relationship, to touch anything that is not clean, to stay in the sun for too long, to swim in the lakes and ponds, to leave the castle after nightfall, to venture to the Other Shore, to write with anything that produces a fume, to walk in the rain, to be physically injured (this includes small scratches and bruises), to speak of the gods badly..... the list goes on and on.

....anyway, all twelve of us have a 'title' that associates us with a god. i am 'Tamer' which is a generic term for one who has control over the people and magics in the area, as well as the natural forces and the majority of the other deities. my sister was also chosen at birth- her name is Adyan, she is the 'Keeper'- which loosely describes one who guards the dragons that live in our complex- as well as the other magical beasts that we have power over. she is about thirteen years old right now....
