~*~*the seal shattered, and a small box appeared beneath it. nothing particularly fancy, just a small box, probably made from solid oak. the corners were carved beautifully to look like serpent scales, and the top had a n oriental-style dragon carved on it. otherwise, there was nothing special about it. you pulled it up from beneath the broken seal, and placed it upon a table. carefully, in case there was something alive inside the box, you slid the top off. there were 2 small lockets inside- the first was shaped like a crescent moon, made of deep sapphire. the light glowing from within it was stronger than any you had recently seen; a sort of silver light with small beams of gold mixed into it. the other was shaped the same, but the crescent moon was faceing the other direction. it was made from deep emerald, with a golden light (with a hint of silver) glowing inside it. you lifted them both, and placed them on the table. there was no need to keep he box, so it was placed back into the hole below the seal. your vision briefly darkened, as a spirit visited you. it was one you did not recognize, actually. you rarely got visits from those who had not befriended your world long ago. he appeared in the room, and you realized that the world had darkened, not your vision. he looked like a cross between some sort of dog and cat. he was about the size of a large wolf, with a canine face and basic canine body. his ears were those of a feline, as was his unusually puffy tail. his strength and figure was of neither- he was slim, yet covered in muscles. you guessed that he was a good runner. there were heavy dark rings around his eyes, natural markings. his fur was gray all over his body, save for the rings around his eyes, the tips of his ears, his paws, and the rings that had formed around his tail. he was lovely to look at- but he seemed ghost-like. you could see through him. he walked toward you, no sound coming from his claws upon the floor. he stopped about 5 feet away from you, and blinked his eyes- which, you only just noticed, were NOT transparent like the rest of him was, and looked like Faeren's.... black, with a field of stars within them.*~*~
i find this day with relief, and with the horror that it has finally come. your kind has heard all 5 verses of the ancient melody kept by the Golden Spirits, and you have learned of what you must do in the near future. the children of this world will guide you, as will the children of mine. i am the Breath of Aderes, a living soul produced by the planet that is in so much pain. you know why you are going on this mission, but not fully... you believe that you are going to stop a dark man. in all reality, you are on your way to help him find the Dragon Stones that he seeks. it sounds as if it is a cruel fate, and in all reality that is so, but there will be a golden path behind the veil of darkness....
~*~*he turned to the lockets on the table.*~*~
return them to their owners- the Dark King, and the Prince of Light. the spirits within them will keep them safe until the time comes that neither of them can be helped. your Goddess of Life will provide you with a path to Aderes, where i will be waiting for you on the Winter Moon. your allies that were taken there are safe and well, with only minor injuries. your paths will cross shortly. but bear in mind my warning..... somebody is going to loose their life before you finish the quest. who that will be, i can not tell you... but i can tell you that the life will be lost in a feat of absolute courage of the heart.... the only role you will play, is whether or not the person will return to you.... for the life that is lost, you must recover before you leave the Broken Towers, lest they be gone forever. i bid you farewell.... i look foreward to seeing you at a later time....
~*~*the creature vanished, and the lights returned to normal. all that was left, was waiting for Daypaw to come back.*~*~
