Subject: Took my mothers 96 Jetta VR6 5speed out for a romp

I drive her car alot, seeing that mine is kinda out for the count. But I've never really pushed it that awful hard. I was with a friend, and he advised me of a nice stretch of road near where we were, so being the adventurer I am, I went over to see this road. The road was out in the middle of nowhere, with no trees, homes, cars, etc to be seen for miles, and nothing but a layed out flat track in front of me, until it faded into the trees about 3 miles away. So standing at a stop, i cracked my knuckles, selected 1st gear, took it to 2000rpms, and sidesteped the clutch. This made for a great start, with minimal wheelspin, at 40mph I nailed 2nd, and ripped them free for about 20 feet, and continued barreling down the road. I came to 62mph, and chirped 3rd, again i gave it all the throttle it could handle, until i topped out at 100mph, and selected 4th, with the road quickly showing us just how fast we were going, we came to where the fields gave way to the trees. Overall that part ofthe run went great, hitting 115mph in 4th.

the road in the trees was blissfully twisty, and i maintained a average speed of 50-60mph in 2nd the entire way, some of the curves were marked 15mph, blew through them at 50+, others marked 25, slid through at 60. Towards the end of this part of the road, was the final AMAZING corner, a complete VERY TIGHT "S" curve, note the exact shape of the "S" it was VERY much that tight. i came in hard, and slow at about 30, and powered down the middle part at about 50, breaking for the corner, and powering out of that into 3rd, hitting about 80mph before i could see ahead a stop sign, and a white line where my road intersected a populated backroad. I jumped on the brakes, and wasnt surprized to find them musshy, and despite my finest efforts, and that too of the ABS, brake fade won over my skill, and i stopped 1.5 feet over the line!! dammit lol, anyways then reurned to "normal driver" mode, and made my way back to my friends home.

for a 100% stock 96 Jetta VR6 that thing freaking delivers, even as a FWD car, i still manage to have more fun in it then you can shake a stick at!
