The driveshaft is balanced. If it is clean, you may be able to see a white mark on each half of the shaft. When these white marks (dots) are lined up, the shaft will stay in balance. If you don't see the dots, you can make your own marks to ensure that it stays aligned and balanced properly.

Preloading the bearing... When the center bearing bolts are finger tight, push forward on the bearing housing to have a little pressure on the bearing. Read the Bentley specs as I do not know them off the top of my head. I usually just push it forward approx 3-4 mm then tighten the bolts.
