Subject: o2 sensor question

Isn't your OBC suppose to give you some error when your o2 sensor is dead? I'm still getting about 230 miles a tank (at 1.67), I did the mustang o2 sensor deal, there was one thing I remember I was worried about, that is if I spliced the 2 black wires wrong, but arn't those just grounds?
